Four from Burnette Shutt & McDaniel included in 2024 Super Lawyers

The four, all of whom have been honored in previous editions of the guide, also are listed in “South Carolina Super Lawyers,” a companion piece recognizing outstanding attorneys in the Palmetto State.

Two of the firm’s co-founders, Burnette and Shutt, are both South Carolina Supreme Court Certified Specialists in Labor and Employment Law. They represent clients in state and federal courts in South Carolina.
Cox and LeFever’s practices focus on a range of employment law issues such as discrimination and wage disputes. Both also practice civil rights law, and Cox is part of the firm’s Criminal Justice Civil Rights Team. Additionally, LeFever practices education and family law. This includes helping clients with name and gender-marker changes.
A national rating service, Super Lawyer evaluates attorneys annually across more than 70 practice areas. The selection process includes peer review and independent research. Only about 5 percent of a state’s attorneys are selected each year. Selection to the “Rising Star” list, a designation limited to attorneys under age 40 or with less than 10 years’ practice, is usually limited to around 2.5 percent of eligible lawyers each year.
