Pop’s BBQ and Country Cooking Now Open for Your Dining Pleasure!
May 29, 2024Just two weeks after announcing the launch of his new restaurant, owners Marcus and Fran Cheeks proudly opened the doors of Pop’s BBQ and Country Cooking to a strong crowd for lunch. As dinner service began, the parking lot quickly filled up, a testament to the community’s excitement and support.
Located at 306 E. Carolina Avenue in Clinton, Pop’s BBQ boasts an inviting dining room just like you would expect in a classic Southern eatery. True to its name, the restaurant features a buffet-style setup with an abundance of food choices that cater to every palate.
Owner Marcus Cheeks expressed deep gratitude to God and his parents, Stanley and Ruby Price, for their instrumental help in getting the space ready. “I couldn’t have done it without them,” Cheeks said. “Dad built the buffet stations and took care of so many other details, while my in-laws, Everett and Lynn Robbins, created a décor that’s clean, simple, and light, making the restaurant inviting from the moment you walk in. We also appreciate the great work of so many service providers who helped us get the building ready to open – electricians, HVAC technicians, plumbers and more.”
Pop’s BBQ offers a diverse menu featuring classic barbecue and country cuisine. Diners can enjoy a full salad bar, a selection of country meats, vegetables, sides, and a variety of desserts. Special menu items include bone-in fried catfish on Wednesdays, BBQ from Thursday to Saturday, Southern breakfast food on Saturday mornings, and a full buffet on Sundays.
