Catawba Trail Elementary School principal and R2i2 Student Innovation Center director announced

Richland Two continues its tradition of producing school leaders and promotes two assistant principals to lead schools.
Dr. Tia Jones will be the principal at Catawba Trail Elementary and Alan J. Wolf will be the director of the R2i2 Student Innovation Center. The new appointments are effective July 1, 2024.
“These exceptional leaders bring a wealth of experience, passion, and innovative ideas to their roles. Their dedication to fostering a nurturing and academically enriching environment for our students is truly inspiring,” district Superintendent Dr. Kim D. Moore said.

Dr. Jones has 25 years of experience in the field of education. Dr. Jones joined the Richland Two team in 1998 as a Special Education teaching assistant and later became an early childhood teacher. She has served as assistant principal at Catawba Trail Elementary School since 2013. She was named the 2022 National Outstanding Assistant Principal by the National Association of Elementary School Principals. Dr. Jones earned a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education from SC State University, a master’s degree in divergent learning from Columbia College, an Education Specialist degree in educational leadership from Cambridge College and a Doctor of Education degree in organizational leadership from Gardner-Webb University.
Dr. Jones said. “I am committed to fostering an environment where both teachers and students thrive through innovation and inclusivity. We stand on the cusp of new opportunities and achievements, and I am excited to lead our school into its next chapter.”
Alan J. Wolf brings nearly 30 years of hands-on-teaching and administrative experience to his new role as principal. In 1993, he became a social studies teacher in Pennsylvania and went on to teach in Virginia and with Job Corps in New York before joining Richland Two in 2018. As assistant principal at Ridge View High School, he is responsible for discipline for all students and is the instructional leader for the school’s physical education department. He earned a bachelor’s degree in secondary social studies from Mansfield University and a master’s degree in educational administration from the University of Scranton.
“I look forward to working with the staff of R2i2, the students and all the high school principals to provide the students of Richland Two with a great and innovative learning experience for years to come,” Wolf said.
