Dominion Energy Charitable Foundation to support more than 100 South Carolina nonprofits

The Dominion Energy Charitable Foundation recently awarded more than $800,000 in grants to nonprofit organizations across South Carolina, part of more than $4.2 million given across six states in the company’s service territory.

This year’s local recipients will expand options in communities facing food insecurity, improve access to services for people with disabilities, provide emergency shelter, preserve natural habitats, and advance the arts, among other causes.

“Our local nonprofits here in South Carolina have an ability to bring people together to support a common goal, and that’s important,” said Keller Kissam, president of Dominion Energy South Carolina. “While it means a lot to help them carry out their mission through financial donations, it means even more when our employees can volunteer to be boots on the ground with these groups that are making a big difference every day for our neighbors in the communities we serve.”

South Carolina recipients include:

• Harry Hampton Wildlife Fund – Columbia, SC – The Carolina Coastal Discovery Marine Education Program offers an outdoor education program for students in 5th-12th grades. S.C. Department of Natural Resources marine scientists and educators take students out on the water, where they use real-world research techniques and equipment to learn about conservation and the benefits of improved estuary health.
• Kids On Point – Charleston, SC – Kids On Point offers year-round academic and enrichment programming, focusing on eliminating the resource disparities faced by students, particularly concerning educational equity and post-secondary access.
• Midlands Housing Alliance – Columbia, SC – The Transitions Aging Adult Program provides meals and housing for clients and helps navigate the complexities of setting up disability benefits. The organization helps find suitable employment that aligns with clients’ skills and abilities, regardless of their age.
