International Ballet hires Adair Kempf as Academy Director

International Ballet announces Adair Kempf as the new Academy Director for the 2024-2025 Season. The Academy Director is a brand new full time position created by International Ballet leadership to support the faculty, students, and families of the non-profit. Adair will work alongside IB Artistic and Administrative leaders to maintain the Academy’s focus on high quality training in a safe, nurturing, and friendly environment. International Ballet is known for training dancers who go on to receive scholarships to top university dance programs and professional dance careers.
Adair joins the IB team with over 20 years of experience in the ballet industry. Originally from Greenville, SC Adair graduated from the South Carolina Governor’s School for Arts & Humanities, going on to receive a BFA in Dance Performance from Butler University. She danced professionally with Charleston Ballet Theatre (Charleston, SC) and Carolina Ballet Theatre (Greenville, SC), working with renowned choreographers such as Alonzo King and Dwight Rhoden. As a teacher, Adair has worked with students from pre-ballet through pre-professional, and coached advanced students for competitions including the Youth American Grand Prix. Most recently Adair served as the Dance Department Administrative Assistant, Ballet Faculty, and Summer Dance Immersion Director at South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities.

International Ballet is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with the mission to inspire joy and success through professional ballet training and performances. As a Peace Center Resident Company, IB brings classical ballet to modern audiences. Performing as a guest company with the Greenville Symphony Orchestra and in local schools and communities, IB maintains outreach programs including Project Pirouette, Adult Accessibility Class and Storytime Ballet. In addition, International Ballet has a pre-professional youth company and training academy in Greer, SC. International Ballet was founded in 2003.
