Experienced employment lawyer Janet Rhodes joins Burnette Shutt & McDaniel

Janet Rhodes, a skilled employment lawyer and litigator who’s practiced in Columbia for more than a decade, has joined Burnette Shutt & McDaniel.

Long dedicated to moving employment law forward, Rhodes currently serves as chair of the SC Bar Employment and Labor Law Section.

Rhodes was among the original Burnette Shutt & McDaniel attorneys when the firm was founded. She returns after practicing at another Columbia firm for several years.

Her practice at Burnette Shutt & McDaniel includes representing employees and employers in a wide range of cases, including wrongful termination, wage disputes, discrimination, and equal pay. She also represents clients in contract disputes and has extensive experience in drafting employment agreements, severance agreements, and independent contractor agreements.

Rhodes assists companies with in-depth employment practice adults and in drafting handbooks and policies to help keep them in compliance with labor law.

A native of Ninety Six in Greenwood County, Rhodes graduated magna cum laude from Wofford College, where she sang in three musical ensembles and set school records as an NCAA Division I athlete. She earned her juris doctor at Charleston School of Law.

Rhodes remains active in the arts and currently serves on the Trustus Theater Board.
