August 19, 2024

The 8th Annual Bobby Golden Ride for St. Jude’s, held on Friday, August 17th, was a resounding success, bringing together the local community in support of a cause close to the heart of the late Bobby Golden, former owner of Big Daddy’s bar. Known for his unwavering commitment to charitable causes, particularly St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Golden’s legacy was honored by the many who participated and contributed to the event.

This year’s benefit raised an impressive $8,000, all of which will go directly to supporting the children and families at St. Jude’s. The event kicked off with registration at 10:30 a.m., and by 11 a.m., the first bike roared out of the lot at Big Daddy’s on Church Street. Riders returned by 3 p.m., just in time for the much-anticipated auction, which started at 4 p.m.

The event was not just about the ride; it was a community effort that involved a dedicated cook crew, bartenders, volunteers, and an energetic auctioneer.

In addition to the delicious food, the event featured door prizes, auction items, and a 50/50 raffle. The generosity of local businesses and individuals who donated prizes and auction items was crucial in making the event a success.

Big Daddy’s would like to thank everyone who participated, from the  75 plus riders to the volunteers and sponsors. Support helped raise to funds and keep Bobby Golden’s spirit and commitment to helping others alive. Even as the rain threatened to dampen the event, the enthusiasm of those  attending was high.

Plans are already underway for next year’s ride, and with the momentum built from this year’s success, the event is sure to continue growing in both participation and impact.
