Clinton High School Booster Club: Supporting Our Athletes Since 1972

August 27, 2024

Since its inception in 1972, the Clinton High School Athletic Booster Club has been a cornerstone of support for student-athletes, ensuring they have the resources and encouragement needed to excel both on and off the field. Founded by Lib Bagwell, Ronny Page, Terry Bootle, Barry Kitchens, and others, along with Bobby Joe Simmons who was named the president, the club has grown and evolved over the years, adapting to the changing needs of the school’s athletic programs.

The Booster Club’s legacy of leadership is marked by dedicated individuals who have steered the organization with a vision for success. In 1993, Jimmy Webb took the helm when Andy B. Young became the head coach, bringing energy and commitment to supporting Clinton High’s athletic programs. The torch was passed once again in 2016 to Buddy Bridges, continuing the tradition of strong leadership and community involvement.

The Clinton High School Athletic Booster Club has played an instrumental role in funding essential equipment, uniforms, travel expenses, and facility improvements, ensuring that every student-athlete has the opportunity to compete at the highest level. The club also fosters a sense of community pride, uniting parents, alumni, and local businesses in support of the Red Devils.

As the new school year begins, the Booster Club is calling on the community to step up and become members. Whether you’re a parent, an alumnus, or simply a fan of Clinton High School athletics, your support is crucial. By becoming a member, you not only contribute to the success of our student-athletes but also help to maintain the strong tradition of excellence that has defined Clinton High School for decades.

Buddy Bridges, current CHS Booster Club President, emphasizes the importance of community involvement: “Supporting the Booster Club is about more than just the games—it’s about investing in our students and their futures. When you join, you’re helping to maintain the rich tradition of excellence that Clinton High School is known for, and you’re making a real difference in the lives of our student-athletes.” One of Buddy’s constant reminders is, “It’s not what you get, it’s what the kids get,” underscoring the club’s mission to prioritize the needs and success of the students.
