To begin the City Council meeting, Mayor Daniel J. Rickenmann and City Council approved the honorary naming of the intersection of the 1200 block of Blanding Street and the 1600 block of Main Street and the intersection of the 1200 block of Blanding Street and 1600 block of Sumter Street as Villa Tronco Way.
City Council presents the honorary intersection sign topper to the Tronco family announcing “Villa Tronco Way.”
Following the honorary naming, Tiffany Latimer, Director of Customer Services, helped announce the launch of the MyCOLASC application to assist our customers and residents in the City of Columbia. The application is now available to download on Apple and Android devices.
MyCOLASC is an exciting new service request platform for the City of Columbia, SC. This useful, free app empowers residents and visitors to report non-emergency issues to city staff, and then track request status online, from submission to resolution.
Designed to improve communication and service delivery, while making our community a better place, MyCOLASC allows citizens to use mobile phones or computers to pinpoint a location on the map, upload photos, and submit issues about potholes, fallen trees, damaged park equipment, broken streetlights, or other local concerns. For best servicing, and to track updates, register and use your MyCOLASC account today.
Mayor Rickenmann presents the Sickle Cell Disease Month Proclamation to the James R. Clark Memorial Sickle Foundation and representative staff from the City of Columbia.

After the announcement of the app, City Council presented several proclamations including the Sickle Cell Disease Month Proclamation and the Soda City FC Day Proclamation.
The Sickle Cell Disease Month Proclamation was presented to the James R. Clark Memorial Sickle Cell Foundation, who will be holding their 18th Annual JRC Sickle Cell Walk on Saturday, September 14.
The Soda City FC Day Proclamation was presented to the 2024 National Championship winning Soda City FC men’s team. Soda City FC targets players between the ages of 17-32, who are looking for opportunities to play for a purpose, and showcase abilities at an elite level in a local, regional and national format.
Soda City FC presents Mayor Rickenmann with a soccer scarf that displays “Our City, Our Soccer.”
