Veterans Bridge Home receives $50,000 grant from Carolina Center for Medical Excellence Foundation
September 11, 2024Funding to be used to build a cohesive network of support services for veterans in South Carolina
Veterans Bridge Home (VBH), a leading non-profit organization dedicated to connecting, leading and advocating for veterans and their families across the Carolinas, was recently awarded a $50,000 grant from the Carolina Center for Medical Excellence (CCME) Foundation. This grant will fund VBH’s efforts to build a more connected and supportive community for veterans in South Carolina.
Specifically, this grant supports “Building a Veteran Connected Community,” which will focus on creating a cohesive network of services for veterans in the 36-county region served by the Columbia VA Health Medical Center. The initiative will help 263,000 veterans and their families across the region better leverage existing resources while fostering collaboration among local veteran services organizations.
“This grant helps expand our reach and create a more robust support network for veterans to access local, state and federal resources,” said Blake Bourne, CEO of Veterans Bridge Home. “We are grateful for the support of the CCME Foundation, and their gift will ensure veterans can access the resources and opportunities they need to thrive in civilian life.”
Awardees were selected based on each project’s impact on health care improvement and ability to provide access for individuals and communities, particularly those who are underserved. The grant will primarily fund a full-time local leader to coordinate and spearhead the project in Columbia, South Carolina.
“Veterans Bridge Home’s initiative aligns closely with the CCME Foundation’s mission to improve access to health-related services,” said CCME Foundation Chairman Donald J. DiPette, MD. “We have a significant veteran population in Columbia and the Midlands region and having a network of support services will ensure these members of our communities receive the best support possible, so they are able to thrive.”
