Five Points announces naming contest for new permanent art installation to be officially unveiled at JerryFest

The latest permanent art installation by artist, Clark Ellefson to be unveiled at JerryFest in Five Points on October 6

The Five Points Association announced that their newest permanent art installation, a robot head by local artist, Clark Ellefson, will be officially unveiled at this year’s JerryFest on Sunday, October 6, 2024, in the Five Points district.

In anticipation of the unveiling, the association is asking the community to help name the “headphone wearing bearded giant” which will be located on Saluda Avenue and is the latest public arts project addition in Five Points.

“We are excited see this project come to fruition as it is a reflection of the creativity we have here in Five Points, our uniqueness and it also give a nod to the music culture in the district which is why we thought JerryFest was the perfect time to unveil our robot head to the community,” says Heather McDonald, executive director of the Five Points Association.

JerryFest, a FREE, Family Friendly, outdoor concert held annually on the first Sunday in October features local and regional acts on two stages, artisan craft vendors, food trucks, and a Lil’ Hippie Corner with crafts, tie dye, and more. JerryFest runs from 11:30 am-8:00 pm with an official after party at Publico from 7:30 pm – 10:00 pm.

To be considered for the naming contest, please complete the online submission form HERE. All entries must be received by Wednesday, October 2 at 5:00 pm. Winner will be notified by the Five Points Association and winning name will be announced publicly at the official unveiling on Sunday, October 6.
