September 30, 2024

South Carolina Children’s Theatre (SCCT) announced the addition of five new members to its Board of Directors: Vicky Schmitz Hammond, David Crabb, Kathryn Owen Hix, Heath Beard, and LaVonda Paul. These community leaders join SCCT at a pivotal time, as the theatre continues to expand its programming and outreach to children and families throughout the Upstate.

SCCT remains a cornerstone of arts and education in the region, offering professional theatre experiences and innovative educational opportunities designed to nurture creativity, confidence, and teamwork in children of all ages. The new board members will bring fresh perspectives to help guide SCCT’s continued growth and impact, particularly in the areas of early childhood education and community outreach.

“As SCCT continues to grow, we are thrilled to welcome such an outstanding group of individuals to our board,” said Katie O’Kelly, Managing Director. “Their collective expertise and passion for arts education will help us further strengthen our programming and expand our reach to inspire even more young minds.”

Matt Irwin, Board Chair, added, “This is an exciting time for SCCT. The enthusiasm and commitment these new board members bring will be crucial as we advance our mission to make the arts accessible to every child in our community.”
