The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society announces Rikard & Protopapas as presenting sponsor for 2024 Light The Night Columbia event

The Midlands Region of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) has announced that Rikard & Protopapas has joined LLS’s 2024 Light The Night® campaign as this year’s Presenting Sponsor. Held annually, funds raised through this event help LLS invest in lifesaving research and provide free support to patients, families, and caregivers impacted by a blood cancer diagnosis. Rikard & Protopapas’s commitment moves LLS closer to its vision of a world without blood cancers.
Each fall, more than 100 inspirational Light The Night events occur in communities across North America. Participants engage in memorable experiences and empowering ceremonies that honor survivors and pay tribute to those who have passed. At dusk, they gather to take steps together to end cancer while carrying illuminated lanterns to honor those impacted by blood cancer – white for survivors, red for supporters, and gold in memory of loved ones lost to cancer.

Because of fundraising campaigns like Light The Night, LLS has invested since its inception 75 years ago, more than $1.7 billion in lifesaving research in search of cures. Despite progress, more than a third of blood cancer patients still do not survive five years after their diagnosis. Proceeds also enable LLS to carry out its holistic, 360-degree approach in communities by providing free patient assistance, support, and resources, and by advocating for policies that give access to better, more affordable cancer care.
