A Conversation with Martin White, Ruffian Software

Martin White earned his Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering from Clemson University in 1998. He spent much of his career developing business software for managed service providers (MSPs) worldwide. Throughout these years, he observed the increasing importance of security in software development. When malware became a growing threat, new software solutions emerged to combat it. Similarly, as data backup challenges arose, the industry responded with tools to address them.

In 2017, Martin identified a significant gap in the area of privileged account management (PAM). PAM encompasses strategies and technologies designed to manage and secure privileged access across users, accounts, and systems. Recognized as one of the most critical aspects of cybersecurity, PAM plays a key role in reducing cyber risks, ensuring compliance, and meeting the requirements for cyber insurance.

With this insight, Martin founded Ruffian Software in 2019 and introduced TechIDManager. This innovative software streamlines the creation and management of unique accounts for every MSP technician across Entra ID (formerly Azure AD), domains, and local machines. TechIDManager ensures proper permissions and automates password rotation, enhancing security through efficient account management.

Ruffian Software, became an SCRA Member Company in 2021 and received a $25,000 Project Development Fund Grant. They also became an SC Launch Inc. Portfolio Company with a $250,000 investment in May of 2023.

Today, Ruffian Software is making privileged account access much safer for MSP technicians all over the world.
