October 22, 2024

The South Carolina American Revolution Sestercentennial Commission (SC250) invites the public to a week of events in Camden from October 30 to November 1. Attendees will have opportunities to learn about state and county-level efforts to rediscover the Revolution, meet representatives from across the state and commemorate the 250th anniversary of the Camden District Resolves.

The series of events will begin with The Gathering of County 250 committees and stakeholders on Wednesday, Oct. 30, at the Revolutionary War Visitors Center. The day will begin at 9:30 a.m. with coffee and networking, followed by presentations highlighting statewide initiatives and guided networking sessions.

Attendees are encouraged to join a post-event Meet & Greet with County 250 representatives at Historic Camden’s McCaa Tavern. Continue the Conversation over dinner at a downtown Camden restaurant or join Historic Camden for an optional ticketed Colonial meal prepared by Mount Vernon’s 18th-century chef and baker Justin Cherry, offering further opportunity for fellowship. Additional dining options around Camden are also available.

On Thursday, Oct. 31, the SC250 Commission meeting will take place at 9:30 a.m. with light refreshments and lunch provided. Discussions will include grant opportunities, events and upcoming projects.

The event series will conclude with the Camden District Resolves Celebration on Friday, Nov. 1 at noon. This event will include a program, exhibit and dramatic presentation marking the 250th anniversary of the Camden District Grand Jury’s resolution of grievances against Great Britain.
