Circa brings its signature blend of tradition and modern style to downtown Lexington

Chapin Commercial Construction announces the completion of renovations at 101B E. Main St. in Lexington, South Carolina, transforming the historic building’s 2,285-square-foot basement space into the newest home of Circa Barbershop. In addition to the barbershop renovation, Chapin Commercial also expanded the storage and office space for the building’s owner and flagship tenant, Craig Reagin Clothiers, a long-standing men’s clothing store that has operated from the location’s main level since 2011. Lexington-based firm Craig A. Otto Architect, Inc. is the architect for this project.

“As lifelong Midlands-area residents, being part of the revitalization of downtown Lexington is incredibly rewarding for us,” says Chad Lindler, founder and president of Chapin Commercial Construction. “Renovating a historic building like this presents unique challenges, but it’s those challenges that make the process very fulfilling. We’re proud to play a role in preserving the history of this area while helping local businesses thrive.”

The barbershop space features Circa’s signature minimalist aesthetic, incorporating a black and white color palette, exposed brick walls, wood accents, vintage light fixtures, penny-round tile flooring and four classic barber chairs. Halie Holland, owner of Circa Lexington, is stepping into business ownership for the first time after working as a Circa barber for five years. Her journey reflects Circa’s tradition of empowering barbers to become business owners.

“Opening this shop is about so much more than just giving haircuts—it’s about creating an experience, a place where everyone feels like part of the family,” says Holland. “Our clients aren’t just clients; they become friends, part of our community. We get to share in life’s big moments from marriages to new babies and everything in between. Whether you’re celebrating or going through a tough time, our shop is a safe space, where the chair becomes more than just a place for a haircut—it’s ‘hairapy,’ connection and a little light in people’s lives.”

Founded in 2014 by D.R. Granger in Columbia, S.C., Circa’s business model centers on simplicity and consistency, providing high-quality haircuts and precise beard trims. What began as a one-chair shop in the dressing room of Circa Mercantile Company has grown into eight locations, with seven in South Carolina and one in Pittsburgh.

“Working with Chapin Commercial was one of the best experiences we’ve had with a construction company,” says Granger. “Their communication, follow-through and execution on the finished product exceeded our expectations. We highly recommend them to anyone looking to bring a project to life.”

Circa and Craig Reagin Clothiers not only share a building but also a strong dedication to community and exceptional customer service. Jeremy Addy, the owner of Craig Reagin Clothiers, comes from a family that has called Lexington home for generations and is committed to supporting the town’s ongoing growth.

“We’re thrilled to have Circa join us and bring even more energy, style and sense of community to downtown Lexington,” says Jeremy Addy, owner of Craig Reagin Clothiers. “We’ve been in this space for years, and thanks to this renovation, we can fully utilize the basement level and enhance our operations. It’s been a pleasure working with Chapin Commercial Construction to turn our vision into reality.”

Circa Barbershop is now open from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. For more information or to schedule an appointment, visit circabarbershop.com or call 803-567-5328.
