Clinton High School’s Clayton Lawson Named Laurens County Touchdown Club Player of the Week for Dominant Performance Against Blacksburg Wildcats

October 28, 2024

The Laurens County Touchdown Club is proud to announce that for games played on October 25th, the Player of the week is offensive and defensive lineman senior Clayton Lawson of Clinton High School.

Lawson is a senior offensive and defensive lineman for the Clinton High School Red Devils as they defeated the Blacksburg Wildcats by a score of 61 – 14 to go to 3 – 0 in region play.

Clayton Lawson is a Clinton High School senior for the Red Devils who graded out at 90% for his offensive skills including three pancake blocks as Lawson helped lead the offensive charge for the Red Devils who rushed for 478 yards and had 605 yards of total offensive.  Additionally, Lawson had three total tackles and one tackle for loss on the defensive side of the ball.

Head Coach Corey Fountain stated, Clayton was a hard worker in the off-season strength and conditioning program and currently during practice.  His hard nosed play on offense and defense set the tone in the trenches.  He has a ‘high motor’ and barely comes off the field during the game which is rare for a big man.  It is fun watching his 2-way throwback style of football on Friday nights.”
