ECSC announces new Pimento Cheese Passport partners

Participants can now savor 19 unique dishes and have a chance to choose one of their own
Experience Columbia SC will be adding to its highly-successful Pimento Cheese Passport. Six new dishes and restaurant partners will be featured, and the public will have the opportunity to choose one of their own.
“The updated passport features 19 dishes highlighting the iconic Southern staple and the 20th dish will be left up to the public,” said Charlene Slaughter, director of communications at Experience Columbia SC. “With so much interest in the passport, we thought we should yield one of the spots to public opinion. We can’t wait to see who they choose.”
This week, leading up to election day, nominations will be open HERE on the Experience Columba SC website. The following week, pimento cheese enthusiasts can go to our social media pages (Facebook, Instagram) to cast a vote for their favorite dish.
New partners joining the Pimento Cheese Passport are Drake’s Duck-In, Blue Marlin, Chubby’s Burgers, Steel Hands Brewing, Bierkeller Brewing Company and smallSUGAR. Dishes range from the classic pimento cheeseburger to a pimento cheese schnitzel, pimento cheese danish and new varieties of pimento cheese dip.
“This passport includes returning locations from our debut pimento cheese passport in 2019, and from when we went to the digital passport in 2022,” Slaughter said. “We encourage visitors and residents alike to experience pimento cheese in its best form – crafted alongside Southern favorites by restaurants in our backyard, but also to take a moment and appreciate our city’s scenery, arts, and rich history along the way!”
Visitors and residents can get started planning their pimento cheese journey by simply visiting the Experience Columbia SC Pimento Cheese webpage to download your passport, check in to the restaurant upon arrival and order the featured pimento cheese dish to collect a digital passport stamp.
Any participant who visits five restaurants from the passport will receive a Pimento Cheese Passport mug or pint glass and a custom Pimento Cheese Passport t-shirt after visiting 10 restaurants. For the grand prize, any participant who visits all locations will receive a $50 gift card to their favorite Pimento Cheese Passport restaurant.
Nominations open on Oct. 29. And don’t forget to (Pimento) “Cheese” for the camera! Share your favorite pimento cheese pictures on social media using the hashtag #RealColumbiaSC.
