Alvin S. Glenn officer earns leadership honor upon graduation from Criminal Justice Academy Training

Richland County is proud to recognize an officer at the County’s Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center as a recent graduate of the S.C. Criminal Justice Academy’s Basic Detention (BD) training program.

Officer Rebecca Houser was among 35 officers in BD Class 468 to successfully complete the rigorous three-week training course. The Criminal Justice Academy honored graduates from across South Carolina at a ceremony Friday, Oct. 25 in Columbia.

Houser was also recognized with the program’s Assistant Class Leader Award by Jackie Swindler and George Norton of the S.C. Criminal Justice Academy.

The mission of the BD training program is to provide candidates with the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of a certified detention officer in the state.
