Evening Program on General Francis Marion to Commemorate Veterans Day at Laurens County Museum
November 6, 2024The Laurens County Museum will continue its Veterans Day commemorations with an evening program focusing on the life and legacy of General Francis Marion. This lecture, the first in the South Carolina Militia Generals Series of the Revolutionary War Lecture Series, will be presented by historian and battlefield preservationist Durant Ashmore. The event will take place at 7:00 pm on Tuesday, November 12, at the museum, located at 116 South Public Square in Laurens, SC.
Known for his pivotal role in guerilla warfare during the Revolutionary War, General Francis Marion will be the focus of this detailed lecture. Future lectures will cover General Thomas Sumter and General Andrew Pickens in January and February 2025. Guests will enjoy refreshments provided by the Behethland Butler Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR).
