Merry Market at the Museum Returns for a Festive 5th Year!
November 25, 2024The holiday season kicks off in style with the 5th annual Merry Market at the Laurens County Museum, located at 116 South Public Square in Laurens, SC. This festive craft and gift fair offers a unique shopping experience, featuring local vendors, live music, and delicious treats on Friday, November 29, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm, and Saturday, November 30, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. Admission is free.
This year’s Merry Market will take place in the Magnolia Room, showcasing an array of handcrafted items, artwork, holiday decor, and specialty gifts. Vendors will offer everything from jewelry and t-shirts to therapeutic wraps, homemade candles, and resin artwork. Shoppers will also find books, photographic prints, and unique Christmas ornaments, making it easy to check off holiday shopping lists.
Special Highlights:
- Friday, November 29: Warm up with hot chocolate and seasonal beverages as you shop the evening away.
- Saturday, November 30: Enjoy live Christmas music from concert harpist Deborah Rankin, performing from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. CDs of her music will also be available for purchase.
Queen B’s Charities will provide home-cooked plates, with proceeds supporting their community outreach efforts for those in crisis.
History lovers can explore the museum’s collection of books, including the Discovering Laurens County series, which chronicles the county’s history from Colonial times through Reconstruction. Other local titles include Knee Deep in Fishby Laurens native John Faris, Walter Allen’s historical fiction about Colonial-era land surveying, and Gene Ott’s photography book highlighting Laurens County wildlife. Ott’s note cards and historic boxwood shrubs propagated from Rosemont in Waterloo, SC, will also be available for purchase.

The Laurens County Museum is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the rich history of Laurens County. The exhibit hall, open to the public Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm, offers free admission.
