Bon Secours kicks off 2024 Festival of Trees
November 22, 2024Annual Holiday Event to Benefit New Graduate Medical Education Program
Bon Secours announced the return of the annual St. Francis Festival of Trees. 2024 marks the 39th annual event, which officially kicks off Friday, November 22nd .
“This time of year is about loved ones coming together, and we’re so proud to host an event that has become a longstanding tradition for many Upstate families,” said Erik Whaley, president of the St. Francis Foundation. “It’s also the season of giving and this event is a shining example of that, as the Festival of Trees is made possible through the generosity of local businesses, schools, and individuals. Their support allows us to continue funding important programs that provide innovative and holistic care for our patients.”
88 spectacularly decorated trees will line the entranceway of two hotels in downtown Greenville this year, giving visitors and community members the chance to experience the magic of the holidays. View the trees at the Courtyard Marriott Downtown and the Hyatt Regency Greenville.
Each year, companies, schools, and other organizations across the Upstate each sponsor a tree that then is decorated by volunteers. Over the years, these sponsorships have raised millions of dollars that have directly benefitted the health system’s various programs and departments. Project SEARCH, the Level II Special Care Nursery at St. Francis Eastside Hospital, and Open Arms Hospice are just a few of the programs that have previously received funding from this annual holiday event.
This year’s event will support the creation of a new Graduate Medical Education program to help address the growing need for practicing medical professionals, especially in primary care. This new initiative will foster continued growth for health care providers, allowing for a fully integrated, interactive, state-of-the-art model for medical education.
The 2024 Bon Secours St. Francis Festival of Trees will run through Wednesday, December 25th.
