Celebrate the Season: Enter the Contest to Showcase your Holiday Spirit
The City of Columbia is pleased to announce the Capital City’s first-ever Holiday Decorating Contest, inviting local businesses and nonprofit organizations to join in a city-wide celebration of holiday cheer.
The primary goal of the contest is to foster community involvement while promoting Columbia’s beloved holiday traditions. The contest encourages participants to creatively showcase their holiday spirit through festive decorations that will bring joy to all who visit and pass through the Capital City this season.
Contest Overview:
The contest is open to all businesses and nonprofit organizations within the City of Columbia. Participants are invited to decorate the exterior of their storefronts, entranceways, or window displays—provided that the decorations are visible from the outside and are family-friendly. The winner of the contest will receive a $500 prize, recognizing the entity as the “Most Festive Business/Nonprofit in Columbia.”
How to Enter:
Interested participants must complete the entry form by December 13th. Following registration, all entries will be evaluated by the Mayor of Columbia based on three key criteria – adherence to contest rules, creativity, and, most importantly, festivity.

Key Dates:
- December 13th – Deadline for contest entries
- December 16th – Announcement of finalists, with public voting beginning on social media
- December 22nd – Voting ends and winner selected
- December 23rd – Winner announced, just in time for the holidays!
Community Involvement:
After the top 3-5 finalists are selected on December 16th, the community will be invited to vote for their favorite display via social media. Voting will close on December 22nd, with the winner announced on December 23rd, just in time for the holiday season.
