Aging Life Care Charleston team members earn prestigious certifications

December 12, 2024

Aging Life Care Charleston announced that two additional team members have recently earned the Care Manager Certified (CMC) credential from The National Academy of Certified Care Managers.

As Aging Life Care Professionals, both Karen Nichols and Elizabeth McDermott provide guidance and advocacy for families who are caring for older relatives. With a specialized focus on issues related to aging, they assist clients with the challenges of aging, such as finding appropriate housing, in-home care, referrals to medical providers or elder law attorneys, as well as the advocacy and support that provides families peace of mind.

“This achievement reflects our team’s commitment to providing exceptional support and compassionate care for our clients and their families,” said Margaret Kunes, Owner & Aging Life Care Professional, Aging Life Care Charleston.

The Care Manager Certified (CMC) credential from The National Academy of Certified Care Managers demonstrates meeting rigorous education, experience and supervision requirements to qualify for the exam. In order to maintain certification, CMCs are required to participate in continuing education and professional development. With the addition of Karen and Elizabeth’s recent credentialing, all Aging Life Care Charleston care managers are CMC certified.

Karen Nichols joined Aging Life Care Charleston in 2022 and brings over 25 years of experience in senior care, having served in various leadership capacities. Karen is also a certified independent consultant and trainer through Teepa Snow’s Positive Approach to Care. She also is MoCA certified, which is the most sensitive test available for detecting cognitive impairment, measuring executive functions and multiple cognitive domains.
