Greenville’s Poinsett Club named “Platinum Club of America”
December 21, 2024Club Leaders Forum – the premier consulting source of the private club industry – recently announced that the Poinsett Club, one of the Greenville area’s oldest and most recognizable clubs, has again been named a “Platinum Club of America.”
Recognizing the top 5% of clubs in each category (Country Clubs, Golf Clubs, City Clubs, Athletic Clubs, and Yacht Clubs) in the private club industry, this award is the equivalent of the “Mobil Five-Star” designation for hotels and resorts.
Of the 1000 City Clubs in the United States, only 50 are selected for the “Platinum Club of America” designation.
Rankings are awarded every two years, and this marks the tenth consecutive period that the Poinsett Club earned this designation and the third since being recognized on the list of “Platinum Clubs of the World.”
“Outstanding Leadership, and a committed management team and Staff, coupled with an unwavering dedication to the Seven Selection Criteria serve as the optimal model in the Private Club industry. Platinum Clubs of America are distinguished by their unique cultures, which are cultivated and sustained through passion and exemplary leadership,” wrote David V. Smith, President, Club Leaders Forum and Platinum Clubs.
The selection criteria include universal recognition, excellence in amenities and facilities, caliber of staff and professional service levels, engagement and commitment of membership, governance and prudent fiscal management, adapting to changing times, and overall experience.
According to Brent Reeder, the Poinsett Club’s general manager, “In the past few years, we’ve experienced a remarkable surge in bookings and dining activity. As part of our Board’s ongoing capital improvement plan, the upcoming renovations and expansion will further enhance the club’s offerings, supporting our continued growth in membership.”
“The Poinsett Club’s exceptional staff is the cornerstone of our success, and we are deeply grateful for their unwavering dedication. Their commitment to excellence has propelled the club to new heights, advancing our national ranking among the Platinum Clubs of America from 31st to an impressive 30th this year. Thanks to their intentional efforts, our members enjoy an unparalleled experience that continues to earn well-deserved recognition on a national scale,” added 2024 Poinsett Club Board of Governors president Tom Bates.
