Columbia Parks & Recreation Department launches new Park & Play recreational van

January 14, 2025

The mobile activity center will serve as a vital resource to reach underserved communities by providing accessible, free, and engaging recreational activities for families and children.

The City of Columbia Parks and Recreation Department announced the launch of its new community Park and Play mobile recreation van, which will debut on January 30 at 3:30 pm at St. Anna’s Park at 1316 Liberty Hill Avenue, 29204.

Refreshments will be provided at the event by Humana.

The Park and Play mobile recreation van will serve Columbia communities and neighborhoods where residents may not have easy access to our City parks. The Park and Play van’s mission is to ensure all Columbia residents have opportunities to play, learn, and stay active in an instructive and healthy setting.

The outreach goal of the Park and Play mobile recreation van is to create safe and inclusive spaces where neighbors can come together, build relationships, and enjoy the benefits of physical activity, creative expression, and social interaction. By identifying inner city areas with limited access to parks and recreational facilities, the Parks and Recreation Department will use the Park and Play van to bring recreational activities directly where needed, ensuring more citizens have resources for play and community engagement.

Features:
