Steve Cook, the driving force behind several of Columbia’s most beloved restaurants, has been honored with the 2025 Restaurateur of the Year award by the South Carolina Restaurant and Lodging Association (SCRLA). This prestigious recognition, announced at the 72nd Annual Stars of the Hospitality Industry Awards on February 17, is a testament to Steve’s remarkable dedication to the culinary scene and his long standing commitment to serving the Columbia community.

The SCRLA’s annual event, held at the Westin Poinsett in downtown Greenville, celebrates the best and brightest in the hospitality industry, recognizing individuals and businesses that exemplify exceptional commitment, professionalism, and service.

“I’m truly honored to be recognized as South Carolina Restaurateur of the Year by the SCRLA,” said Steve Cook. “This award is a reflection of the incredible teams I’ve had the privilege to work with and the communities that continue to support us. Thank you for allowing us to do what we love by serving great food and creating unforgettable experiences.”

Steve’s journey in the restaurant industry began with Saluda’s Restaurant, which he opened in 1996. Since then, Saluda’s has become a cornerstone of Columbia’s Five Points, earning rave reviews, and building a loyal following for its exceptional food, extensive wine and cocktail selections, and elegant Southern service. Steve’s contributions to the local hospitality scene were further celebrated in 2024 when he was inducted into the Columbia Restaurant Association’s Hall of Fame.

“Steve has played a key role in shaping the culinary landscape of Five Points, and we could not be prouder of his ongoing achievements,” said Heather McDonald, Executive Director of the Five Points Association. “We congratulate Steve on this well-earned recognition.”
