Walmart and Sam’s Club Fight Hunger. Spark Change Campaign Returns to the Lowcountry to Help Neighbors Who Face Food Insecurity

March 11, 2025

Taking place in stores and online, the 12th annual campaign supports local hunger relief efforts

Everyone needs nutritious food to thrive, and in every community in America, people are working hard to provide for themselves and their families. Yet in 2024, 47 million people faced food insecurity in the U.S.

Those are the highest numbers in a decade, underscoring the need for more charitable food assistance in the Lowcountry and beyond.

Now, for the 12th straight year, all U.S. Walmart stores and Sam’s Clubs are launching the Fight Hunger. Spark Change. campaign, with the goal of providing people facing hunger with access to the food and resources they need to thrive. Since its inception, the campaign has generated more than $206 million and helped secure nearly 1.9 billion meals* for the Feeding America® network of local food banks.

Donations stay local. Purchases and donations made in-store or online throughout the Lowcountry are tied to zip codes and go to Lowcountry Food Bank.

“The cost of food, gasoline, and housing remain elevated, making it more difficult for our neighbors who experience food insecurity to consistently have access to healthy food,” said Nick Osborne, President and CEO of Lowcountry Food Bank. ” Corporate partners like Sam’s Club and Walmart help thousands of our Lowcountry neighbors put food on the table so they can focus on enjoying a healthy life.”

The campaign is running in stores and online from March 1st – March 31st, with three ways for shoppers to participate:

  • Donate at check-out in stores or clubs or round up at Walmart.com and the Walmart app.
  • Purchase participating products in-store or online at Walmart.com or SamsClub.com. For every purchase of a participating product, the supplier will donate the monetary equivalent of at least one meal ($0.10) on behalf of a Feeding America partner food bank at Walmart and five meals ($0.50) at Sam’s Club, up to applicable limits. See specially marked packages for full details.
  • Donate at Feeding America’s Fight Hunger. Spark Change. campaign donation site at either www.FeedingAmerica.org/Walmart or www.FeedingAmerica.org/SamsClub.

“For the past 20 years, Feeding America, Walmart and Sam’s Club have collaborated to help people live better in the communities we serve. Together, we have supported the charitable meal system’s ability to recover more food donations from retailers and use tech-powered solutions that help food banks and agencies serve more people,” said Julie Gehrki, president of the Walmart Foundation and senior vice president at Walmart. “The Fight Hunger Spark Change. campaign is another way we build support for the fight against hunger by engaging our suppliers, customers and members to join us in giving to local food banks across the U.S.”

The 20 participating suppliers for Walmart include: Bush Brothers & Company; CELSIUS® Essential Energy Drink; The Coca-Cola Company; Conagra Brands; Dole Packaged Foods; Ferrara; Ferrero; General Mills; Hain Celestial; Hershey Salty Snacks; Hidden Valley Ranch; Kellanova; W.K. Kellogg Company; Keurig Dr Pepper; Kodiak; Kraft Heinz; Monster Energy; Pepsi-Cola Advertising & Marketing, Inc.; Red Bull North America; Unilever
