Clinton City Council Pauses Selection of City Manager, Set to Reopen Application Process March 12
March 11, 2025The Clinton City Council held a called meeting on Monday, March 10, to address personnel matters related to the ongoing search for a new city manager. In light of recent election results, which saw the selection of one new council member and a pending runoff, the council has decided to pause the selection process to ensure a fair and comprehensive approach with all members who will be serving.
“In order to make sure that we conduct a proper search with the council members who will be serving, and at the advice of the Municipal Association staff, we have paused the city manager search,” said Mayor Randy Randall. “We want to ensure that our next city manager is selected with full input from the governing body that will be working alongside them.”
The search, which originally launched amid competition from other municipalities seeking candidates for similar positions, will officially reopen on March 12 and remain open until March 28. Candidates who have already applied will remain in the applicant pool and do not need to reapply. Additionally, the updated job description will place greater emphasis on electrical utility experience, reflecting the city’s priorities.
Any new council members elected in the runoff will be sworn in during a called meeting on March 24. The city remains committed to finding a highly qualified candidate to lead Clinton forward.
