Clemson Extension to Offer Master Gardener Course in Laurens County This Fall
June 17, 2025Laurens County residents with a passion for gardening and community beautification will have the opportunity to take part in the Clemson University Extension Service’s Master Gardener Volunteer Training Course this fall. The 17-week program is set to begin on Tuesday, August 12, with weekly classes held from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Laurens County Extension Building, located at 219 West Laurens Street in downtown Laurens.
Designed to provide in-depth horticultural education, the course covers a wide range of topics, including Urban Tree Care, Turfgrass Management, Vegetable Gardening, Weed Identification and Control, and Annuals and Perennials. The program uses a hybrid format, combining in-person instruction with engaging video presentations by Clemson experts.
Upon completion of the course, graduates will give back to the community by volunteering 40 hours with the Laurens County Extension Program or on approved local beautification efforts.
The registration fee is $300 and includes books, handouts, supplies, and other course materials. Space is limited to 20 participants, and a minimum of 10 registrants is required for the course to proceed. Registration will close on July 29.
