CCSD leader Sharon Randall appointed principal at Morningside Middle
July 8, 2025Charleston County School District announced that Sharon Randall has been named principal of Morningside Middle School. Currently the assistant principal at the East Cooper Center for Advanced Studies, Randall brings more than 30 years of experience in public education, including serving as principal at both Cario and Camp Road Middle Schools.
Randall began her career as a middle and high school English teacher for 15 years before transitioning into school and district leadership roles over the past 18 years. Throughout her career, she has developed systems and processes that promote safe, efficient, and high-performing school environments. Her leadership is rooted in collaboration with teacher leaders, the strategic use of data, differentiated instruction, and strong family and community engagement. Under her guidance, schools have consistently demonstrated academic growth year after year.
Randall has a particularly strong background in instructional leadership. While at Cario, she launched a Collective Leadership initiative and implemented Instructional Rounds that helped maximize class time and improve outcomes. She also created a system to identify and grow in-house teacher leaders, offering monthly, peer-led professional learning sessions during planning periods, giving teachers meaningful, choice-based learning grounded in daily practice.
Randall is also known for her transparency with data, helping teachers access and apply student data in real time to adjust instruction and improve student achievement. Her systems-oriented approach ensures students build upon learning from year to year.
