Led by Manager George Turmon and Coach Dean Hall, this team brings together top-tier talent and deep hometown pride from across the Upstate.
The team will take the field on Saturday, July 26 at 7:30 PM for their first game. It will also be celebrated as Little League Night, and all local leagues along with the Easley community are invited to pack the stands and cheer on the SCD1 Host Team in full force.
“As Easley once again takes center stage in international baseball, it’s only fitting these games are played on the most recently named, Gregg Powell Field,” said Kelly Osteen, Senior League Advisor.
“Gregg served as Easley’s longtime Parks and Recreation Director and was pivotal in shaping our city’s legacy as a baseball destination, including bringing the Big League World Series here. As manager, he led the SCD1 Host Team to 4 World Series championship titles. That legacy still inspires every player who steps on the field that now bears his name.”
“Easley Little League has long carried the responsibility of organizing the Senior League division for South Carolina District One, as we have been the only league in the district to charter this Division,” Osteen continued. “That tradition carries both pride and pressure and is a privilege that is not taken lightly. In recent years, we’ve worked intentionally to extend opportunity beyond Easley, opening tryouts to every eligible player across the district, aligning with Little League’s core values focusing on inclusion. This process has not been without challenges. These athletes are juggling high school ball and playoffs, travel teams, and full summer schedules. Even after the roster is named, getting all sixteen players together at once isn’t easy. When they do show up, though, they form something special. This year’s team reflects the full heart of this district, and we couldn’t be more proud.”
“Being the Host Team means stepping into the spotlight, and often, shouldering quiet assumptions,” she added. “These guys step onto the field with one goal: to compete with heart, stay grounded in who they are, and make their communities proud. They’re here to trust each other, play with purpose, and show the world what happens when talent and humility meet heart.”
Once again, Easley will welcome the world to its World Series Field, and the SCD1 Host Team will proudly represent not only our city and state, but the spirit of Little League and the joy of youth sports.
The tournament runs July 26 through August 2, bringing a full week of championship play, community celebration, and unforgettable moments.
