SC Plants the Seed: Fresh Food and Family Fun at the Laurens Library

August 5, 2025

Enjoy Local Produce, Story Time, and a Cooking Demo on August 12

The Laurens Branch Library invites the community to a fun-filled afternoon focused on healthy eating and literacy with SC Plants the Seed, happening on Tuesday, August 12, from 3:00 to 6:00 PM at 1017 West Main Street, Laurens, SC.

This special event, open to adults 18+ (with kids welcome for story time), brings together local food, family activities, and practical tips for healthy living:

  • Shop fresh produce from Sims Epps Farm and receive $15 in Healthy Bucks when you spend just $5—redeemable on the spot!

  • All forms of payment accepted, including Cash, SNAP, WIC, SFMNP, and Healthy Bucks.

  • While adults shop, children can enjoy story time and receive a free book, courtesy of a grant from the SC State Library and the Institute of Museum and Library Services.

  • Don’t miss the live cooking demonstration by Sharon Lone of Clemson SNAP-Ed, who will show how to turn fresh, seasonal ingredients into simple and nutritious meals.

Whether you’re looking to eat better, support local agriculture, or enjoy an enriching afternoon with your family, this event is a perfect way to plant the seeds of wellness and fun.
