Richland County Drop-off site temporarily closed for safety

August 6, 2025

Richland County’s C&D Landfill Drop-off Center, located north of Columbia, is temporarily closed out of safety concerns while crews repair an underground power line near the site.

Until further notice, the County encourages residents to avoid the site at 1070 Caughman Road N., Columbia (off Monticello Road), and choose another location to drop off recyclables. The County’s Solid Waste & Recycling Division said it hopes to reopen the site later Wednesday.

In addition to providing curbside recycling collection, Richland County has two other drop-off sites for residents to dispose of waste:

  • Lower Richland Drop-Off Center, 10531 Garners Ferry Road, Eastover; open 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday
  • Clemson Road Recycling Drop-off Site, 900 Clemson Road; open 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday

For updates on the drop-off site, visit the County’s website: www.richlandcountysc.gov, and follow the County’s social media accounts.
