Charleston County School District earns national recognition for budget excellence

Becomes the Largest SC Public Agency Recipient

Charleston County School District (CCSD) has been awarded the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA), marking the first time in district history that CCSD has received this national honor.

Superintendent Anita Huggins said, “This recognition affirms the hard work of our Finance team and our commitment to serving students and families with integrity and accountability. To be the largest agency in South Carolina to receive this honor makes the achievement even more meaningful. Clear, transparent financial planning builds trust and ensures our community can see how resources are being used to support schools.”

This award is the highest form of recognition in governmental budgeting and represents a significant achievement by CCSD’s Finance team. Notably, CCSD is the largest agency in South Carolina to receive the award and is one of only two K-12 school districts in the state to be recognized for meeting the rigorous standards of excellence established by GFOA.
