Lander Move-In, By the Numbers
August 19, 2025Before the fall semester begins, Lander University staff, faculty and administrators spend months coordinating the many logistical pieces needed to ease the transition from home to campus for students.
It can be likened in some ways to moving a small community or town to Lander’s main campus of about 190 acres. And it all takes place over the course of a few days.
Here’s a look at Lander’s Move-In experience by the numbers!
• 1,854 keys for residence halls.
• 115 volunteers to assist students and families.
• 2,000+ cars filled with students, families and friends.
• 33 residence hall advisors to answer questions and provide guidance.
• 1,536 bottles of water for Move-In Day.
• 41 roll carts and other utility items to haul boxes, microfridge units, suitcases and other necessities from cars into rooms.
• 1,872 high fives from Mr. Bearcat to welcome students.
• 29 new faculty for Fall 2025.
• 31 Peer Leaders to support their fellow students.
• 18 countries represented by new international students.
• 329 freshman and transfer student athletes.
• 98 percent – the number of students receiving scholarships and other financial aid assistance.
• 870 miles –- greatest distance traveled by a car from Connecticut spotted on Move-In Day
Move-In was followed by the Lander Launch celebration on Friday, Aug. 15, to welcome freshmenand new students to campus:
• 1,389 Lander Launch T-shirts for students, faculty and staff.
• 1,400 fans for students, faculty and staff who stood outdoors for Lander Launchactivities.
• 95 sweltering degrees (Fahrenheit) for the Lander Launch new student photo.
• 1 courageous photographer standing on a lift to take the new student photo.
• 950 sweet treats – cookies and Popsicles – for the picnic.
And, finally, the most important number of all…
• Goodbye hugs and tears: Too many to measure!
