Greenwood Mayor Honors Lander Bass Fishing Champions with Proclamation

Lander University’s bass fishing champions Andrew Blanton and Garrett Smith received a special honor this week as Greenwood Mayor Brandon Smith proclaimed August 22, 2025, as “Andrew Blanton and Garrett Smith Day.”
The proclamation was presented on the Lander campus with the anglers, their families, and university staff in attendance. Blanton and Smith made history in June, becoming the first team to ever win back-to-back national championships at the Bassmaster College Series National Championship. They are also the first team to win multiple titles overall in the prestigious competition.
Mayor Smith commended the duo for bringing national recognition to Lander University and the City of Greenwood.
