Laurens Academy’s Nathan Bell Named Laurens County Touchdown Club Player of the Week
August 25, 2025The Laurens County Touchdown Club is proud to announce that for the opening week of the South Carolina High School football season, August 22nd, the Player of the week is Laurens Academy senior linebacker Nathan Bell.
Nathan is a senior outside linebacker and tight end for the Laurens Academy Crusaders and was a bright spot for the Crusaders Friday night in their 30 – 14 win against Newberry Academy at Todd Kirk Field.
Nathan Bell had an outstanding night for the Crusaders at his defensive linebacker position. Bell had fourteen total tackles; 3 tackles for loss and 1 fumbled fumble in their victory over rival Newberry Academy.
Head Coach Jolly Doolittle stated, “Nathan Bell is everything you want in a football player. He is a Leader who is selfless, TOUGH, and coachable. The harder it gets – the better he is!”
The Laurens County Touchdown Club will honor Bell on September 4th at the secondTouchdown Club meeting of the year. The meeting will be at noon at The Ridge in Laurens with Dempsey’s Pizza of Clinton serving the meal and the food service line opening at 11:45 am. Player of the Week awards will presented in 2025 by Farm Bureau Insurance of Laurens County.
Speaking on Thursday, September 4th will be Presbyterian College Head Football Coach Steve Englehart as the Blue Hose prepare to travel to Greenville, SC to take on the Furman Paladins Saturday, September 6th for a 2 pm kickoff.
The Laurens County Touchdown Club meets every other Thursday throughout the football season at The Ridge located in Laurens at 301 Exchange Road and the public is invited. Tickets can be purchased at the door for $15. All meetings are at Noon with the food service line opening at 11:45 am.
The featured speaker for the second TD Club meeting on Thursday, September 4th will be Presbyterian College Head Football Coach Steve Englehart. Coach Englehart begins his fourthyear at Presbyterian. Additionally, the Farm Bureau Insurance‘Player of the Week’awards will be presented for the August 22 and August 29 High School football games.
