Arby’s Foundation Awards Lowcountry Food Bank $28,600 to support school food distributions for its childhood feeding programs
August 29, 2025The Charleston-area Arby’s teamĀ selected Lowcountry Food Bank (LCFB) as a recipient of a $28,600 grant to support youth throughout the 10 coastal South Carolina counties that LCFB serves. With these funds, LCFB will support healthy food distributions at local School Markets to give kids access to fresh produce, meat, and dairy products.
“We believe that every child deserves access to nutritious food,” said Nick Osborne, LCFB President and CEO. “Thanks to the generous support of the Arby’s Foundation, we continue our mission to provide fair, dignified, and consistent access to food.”
LCFB develops and implements community-based solutions to address hunger, improve food security and provide access to nutritious food.
Research shows that children with regular access to nutritious food have higher grades and test scores, better attendance, and improved school behavior. At LCFB, we work to alleviate childhood hunger in coastal South Carolina through a range of innovative programs.
A School Market is a school-based pantry set up as a neighbor-choice model for a market-style shopping experience. Students and their families can select their own dry goods, protein, dairy and fresh produce based on their own familyās needs. Food distributions happen on an as-needed basis throughout the week, while some markets stay open after school hours and during the summer to support families outside of the school day.
