Presbyterian College Shocks #11 Mercer, Prepares for Furman Road Test and Home Opener Festivities
September 3, 2025In a thrilling season opener, Presbyterian College delivered one of the biggest upsets in program history, defeating No. 11 Mercer 15–10 on the road in Macon, Georgia.
The Blue Hose defense played a dominant role, holding Mercer to just one touchdown and stepping up when it mattered most. The win marked Presbyterian’s first road victory over a top-15 opponent and snapped a 35-game losing streak for Pioneer Football League teams against ranked FCS programs.
Presbyterian controlled the clock with nearly 36 minutes of possession and outgained Mercer 416 to 241 in total yards—flipping the script from a 63–10 loss in last year’s matchup.
Blue Hose Travel to Furman Saturday
PC hits the road again this weekend for another major challenge—this time against Furman University. Kickoff is set for Saturday, September 6 at 2:00 PM in Greenville.
Home Opener and Tailgating Tradition Return September 13
Presbyterian’s first home game is set for Saturday, September 13, with a 7:00 PM kickoff against Erskine College at Bailey Memorial Stadium. Fans are already gearing up for the return of one of Clinton’s favorite traditions—game day tailgating.
Tailgating at Presbyterian College is more than a pregame ritual—it’s a community favorite that brings alumni from across the Southeast back to campus. From students and families to longtime Blue Hose fans, the stadium grounds come alive with tents, grills, cornhole, and plenty of school spirit. The home opener will be the first opportunity this season to enjoy the camaraderie, food, and fanfare that make Saturdays at PC so special.
