Clinton Community Garden: Growing Food, Friendships, and Community

September 15, 2025

The Clinton Community Garden, located on South Bell Street, has been quietly thriving for nearly a decade. But it has always been about more than vegetables. Its mission is clear: to educate, empower, and strengthen connections among neighbors through food—growing it, cooking it, preserving it, and, above all, sharing it.

This past Saturday was no exception, as volunteers came together for their weekly tradition of tending the soil, pulling weeds, and nurturing plants that will soon find their way to community tables. Saturdays at the garden are not just about work—they are about fellowship, teamwork, and the joy of watching something grow.

“What would we do without our volunteers?” organizers ask. The answer is simple: the garden wouldn’t be what it is today. These dedicated hands keep the space flourishing and ensure that the bounty is shared with neighbors who need it most.

Over the years, the Clinton Community Garden has become a hub for more than just produce. Its roots run deeper, reaching into the heart of the community through programs and events that educate and inspire. Looking ahead, organizers are planning special initiatives such as Healthy Talks and Dinner Programs—opportunities for neighbors to learn more about wellness while sharing a meal together.

And coming soon is a special celebration: the annual Gathering in the Garden Party on Tuesday, October 28, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Everyone is invited to join in this evening of fellowship, food, and fun. It’s a chance to experience firsthand the spirit of community that has kept the garden flourishing for nearly a decade.

As the seasons change, so does the garden, but one thing remains the same: its mission to grow not only food but also lasting connections among neighbors. Stay tuned for updates on the upcoming events, and consider spending a Saturday morning at the Clinton Community Garden—where every seed planted is a step toward a healthier, stronger community.
