Temporary Break from Social Media: City of Laurens Announcement

September 17, 2025

Due to the recent assassination of Charlie Kirk, escalating political violence nationwide, and concerning discussions of civil unrest on local social media, the City of Laurens is temporarily stepping away from social media. This pause is part of our commitment to reducing tension and fostering unity in our community.

From now until Monday, September 29, 2025, all City of Laurens social media accounts will be inactive. No posts. No replies. City services and operations will continue as usual. We invite you to join us in this break.

If social media is fueling anxiety, anger, or division, take a step back.

You can still stay informed without the scroll:

• Website: Meeting notices, agendas, and service updates at cityoflaurenssc.com

• Local Media: Follow The Laurens County Advertiser, GoLaurens.com, and laurenscountybuzz.com

• City Hall: Call (864) 984-3933 during weekday hours Comments will not be monitored during this period. This post will remain pinned for reference. Let’s use this time to reconnect as a community—talk with your neighbors, not about them. Together, let’s take a breath and focus on the real world we share, and love our neighbors as ourselves.
