September 18, 2025

The Main Street District announced the appointment of Mike Ralphs as its new Operations Manager, overseeing the beloved Yellow Shirt Ambassador program. With over a decade of experience in real estate and operations management across a variety of industries—including tech, industrial, retail, and commercial office—Mike brings a wealth of knowledge, leadership, and strategic insight to downtown Columbia.

Mike’s professional journey has been marked by managing large teams and executing complex, high-impact projects with a sharp focus on operational efficiency, organizational structure, and scalable growth. Holding a degree in Business Management and equipped with a strong technical skills set, he has built a reputation for streamlining systems and improving workflows.

“Mike is the kind of leader who understands both the big picture and the small details that keep everything moving,” says Matt Kennell, President & CEO of the Main Street District. “We’re thrilled to have him on board and excited for the fresh energy and expertise he brings to our Yellow Shirt Ambassador operations.”

Mike’s appointment comes at a time when the Main Street District is set to see historic investment through new construction projects, doubling the number of residents in the district by 2028. The Yellow Shirt Ambassadors will hold a critical role during this time, providing clean and safe services, maintenance and beautification, outreach, hospitality, and regular communication with merchants and CPD when necessary.

Since joining the Main Street District Yellow Shirt Ambassadors, Mike has been immersing himself in the community and learning the unique rhythm of Columbia’s downtown. He is especially eager to strengthen the district’s operational foundation, support local businesses, and contribute to its continued growth and vibrancy.

“I’ve really enjoyed getting to know the people and places that make Main Street special,” says Ralphs. “I’m looking forward to helping create systems that support our mission and ensure that the district continues to thrive through its growth.”
