September 23, 2025Columbia residents will soon have reason to celebrate as the City of Columbia officially re-opens Finlay Park, one of the city’s most beloved landmarks, on Saturday, November 15, 2025.
The grand re-opening marks the completion of an extensive revitalization project that restores the park’s reputation as the “crown jewel” of Columbia while introducing new spaces for recreation, entertainment, and community gatherings.
The celebration kicks off at 10:00 a.m. with a special program featuring Mayor Daniel J. Rickenmann, members of City Council, City Manager Teresa Wilson, Assistant City Manager Henry Simons, community leaders, and representatives from Mashburn Construction—the team behind the renovations.
Following the ribbon-cutting, guests can enjoy an all-day lineup of live music courtesy of the Jam Room Music Festival, marking Finlay Park’s new role as Columbia’s premier venue for outdoor concerts, cultural performances, and community events.
The event will take place at The Stage at Finlay Park, the city’s newly designed hub for arts, entertainment, and family-friendly programming. Details on parking and shuttle services will be shared by the City in the coming weeks.
The re-opening promises to be both a homecoming for longtime parkgoers and a fresh beginning for new generations of Columbians to enjoy.
