September 29, 2025

The Laurens County Touchdown Club is proud to announce that for games played on Friday, September 26th, the Player of the week is Laurens Academy offensive and defensive lineman Garrison Vaughan.

Vaughan is a senior offensive and defensive tackle for the Laurens Academy Crusaders as theCrusaders defeated rival Newberry Academy 42 – 14 to go 1 – 0 in region play.

Garrison Vaughan had an outstanding night for the Crusaders and he lead the defense with 14 total tackles; 7 tackles for loss; 4 forced fumbles; 1 fumble recovery and .5 sacks.  On the offensive side of the ball, Vaughn had the highest offensive lineman grade and had 24 pancake blocks on Friday night alone.

Head Coach Jolly Doolittle stated, If you want to be good-it starts up front.  For us, it starts with Garrison Vaughan and his teammates on the offensive and defensive lines.  He anchors both units and when he dominates we win.  It is not very common for a player his size to play 120 snaps a game but he does it week in and week out.  A big, strong, physical, high motor, nasty (that’s a good thing) player and a key to our success.”
