Garden Designer and Author Jenks Farmer to Speak at Laurens County Museum
September 30, 2025The Laurens County Museum will welcome noted garden designer, author, and plantsman Jenks Farmer on Thursday, October 9, at 2:30 p.m. Farmer will present a lecture on the heritage plant Crinum Lilies at the museum, located at 116 South Public Square in Laurens.
Farmer is well known across South Carolina and beyond for his expertise in garden design and his passion for organic and rare plants. He has served as the designer of several major botanical gardens in the state, including Riverbanks Botanical Garden in Columbia, where he was the founding horticulturist and later the director. Today, he co-owns Jenks Farmer, Plantsman, a company dedicated to cultivating plants, educating gardeners, and designing distinctive landscapes.
The event is sponsored by the Ann Pamela Cunningham Garden Club and is free to the public. Garden enthusiasts and history lovers alike will enjoy Farmer’s engaging presentation, which connects the beauty of crinum lilies to the region’s horticultural heritage.
