October 1, 2025

Laurens County Council has named four finalists in its search for the next County Administrator, following a nationwide recruitment process.

The executive search was conducted by Find Great People, a consulting firm that reviewed more than forty-five applicants from across the country. From that pool, council narrowed the list to four finalists:

  • Melissa Davis of Atlanta, Georgia

  • Melissa Ferqueron of Saluda, South Carolina

  • Robert E. Smith of Phoenix, Arizona

  • Jerre Threatt of Clinton, South Carolina

Council members interviewed the finalists in person on September 27, 2025. To continue the process, Laurens County Council has scheduled a special called executive session for Thursday, October 2, 2025, at 5:30 p.m. at the County Administration Building, 100 Hillcrest Square in Laurens. The purpose of the meeting is to further discuss and advance the selection of the next County Administrator.

“Laurens County is certainly poised to continue to achieve great things,” said Laurens County Council Chairman Jeff Carroll. “The County Administrator interview process revealed a great group of applicants that will continue to move Laurens County forward. We are excited to finalize the process and select our new County Administrator.”

The appointment of the next County Administrator marks a significant step for Laurens County, with leadership that will guide the county’s operations and future growth.
