Awards announced from the City of Columbia’s 10th annual PARK(ing) Day

October 7, 2025

We had a blast on Friday, September 19, when the City celebrated our 10th annual PARK(ing) Day, with 11 parklets placed along Main Street! Each parklet’s design contemplated how participants might plan their public realm and each of our design teams did an amazing job of bringing their concepts to life!

This year also marked the fifth year that PARK(ing) Day included a contest – a People’s Choice Award, and a juried Best Design Award. The votes are in, and the winners are:

  • 2025 Juried Best Design Award: RocBottom Studios & artists including Keith Tolen
  • 2025 People’s Choice Award: Young Office Environments

Winners received bragging rights, as well as some fun, locally-sourced, prizes courtesy of the Columbia Museum of Art, Richland Library, Hampton Street Vineyard, Experience Columbia, and Planning Division staff.

Photographs of the 2025 parklets can be viewed on the City of Columbia’s social media pages. To learn more about PARK(ing) Day and how you can participate next year, visit www.columbiacompass.org/parklets.
