Columbia Craft closes taproom, continues statewide distribution

October 8, 2025

Columbia Craft Brewing Company has announced the immediate closure of its taproom on Green Street, marking the end of an era for one of the city’s popular gathering spots.

In a statement shared on social media, the brewery cited the same challenges facing many independent brewers nationwide — rising costs, shifting consumer habits, and increased competition — as factors in the decision.

“While the decision to close our taproom doors effective immediately wasn’t easy, we’re proud of the years we spent building community here in Columbia and grateful for everyone who supported us along the way,” the company said.

Despite the closure, Columbia Craft beer will remain available statewide. The brewery confirmed it will continue distributing its products to retailers, restaurants, and bars across South Carolina.

Founded in 2017 and located at 520 Green St., Columbia Craft became known for its diverse lineup of craft beers and its role in revitalizing Columbia’s brewery scene.
