SCETV to engage audiences during 156th annual South Carolina State Fair

October 9, 2025

South Carolina ETV and Public Radio (SCETV) will be a permanent exhibitor at the 156th Annual South Carolina State Fair, taking place Oct. 8 – 19 at the Columbia fairgrounds. Fairgoers are invited to visit the SCETV booth inside the Ellison building to explore engaging programming and educational resources.

In alignment with the fair’s 2025 theme, “Harvesting Happiness,” SCETV will offer enriching experiences that highlight the joy of learning, storytelling and civic engagement.

Visitors to the booth can enjoy the SCETV Book Nook, a welcoming space where families can pause for interactive, educational activities. Free children’s books will be available to take home, fostering literacy and lifelong learning.

As part of SCETV’s celebration of the 205th anniversary of the American Revolution, fairgoers will have the opportunity to share what freedom means to them, contributing to statewide content commemorating the 250th anniversary of the United States. This multi-year effort, which extends beyond July 4, 2026, is an opportunity to pause and reflect on our nation’s past, honor the contributions of all Americans and consider the path forward. Featured programming includes The American Revolution, directed by Ken Burns, Sarah Botstein and David Schmidt, which examines how America’s founding turned the world upside down.

SCETV will also highlight the “Your Stories, Your SCETV: Local News Outreach Tour and Listening Sessions,” an initiative designed to strengthen local journalism and civic dialogue across South Carolina. Through in-person listening sessions, student workshops and community forums, SCETV journalists and engagement teams are bringing conversations to rural and underserved communities to hear directly from residents about the issues that matter most to them leading up to the 2026 election and beyond. This initiative will help inform SCETV’s local news coverage and ensure all voices are represented. Learn more about the tour at SCETV.org/newstour.

Throughout the fair, attendees can also enjoy special opportunities to connect with SCETV programming and personalities. Smart Cat will make appearances on Oct. 8, Oct. 11 and Oct. 17 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., delighting children and families. On Oct. 15 and 16 from 2:45 to 6:45 p.m., SCETV will showcase Ziggy’s Arts Adventure, a live-action educational series that uses music, puppetry and storytelling to teach core arts concepts. Activities inspired by the program will be available, along with a meet and greet featuring the Double Dutch Forces, who are part of the series. In addition, on Thursday, Oct. 16, visitors will have the chance to meet the cast of Making It Grow, including host Amanda McNulty, during a special session from 11 a.m. to 2:45 p.m.
